ABOUT THE FIRM

The Law Offices of Stephen N. Sher, PC was established on November 1, 2006, after Mr. Sher left the big downtown Chicago firm where he was employed for a decade and started his own practice. Mr. Sher was pleasantly surprised when he received a call from a new client looking for engagement before even arriving at the office on the first day.  To ensure that the firm could continue to produce work in a quick and efficient fashion without compromising the high quality work expected, in 2009 we moved to our current location in the Harmswoods building and have hired attorneys and paralegals as necessary.

We counsel our clients on real estate and corporate law with a specialization in health care transactions. Our clients include health care and general real estate owners and closely held family businesses, all of which we assist in a variety of business activities. Our attorneys have handled hundreds of property acquisitions both inside and outside of Illinois, whether single site or multi-site, and a few sales as well. We have also closed on term loans, revolving loans, mezzanine loans, bridge to HUD loans from institutional lenders and more than 65 HUD insured loans totalling over $750MM. While our primary focus is SNF health care facility acquisitions, we also handle transactions involving home health businesses, assisted livings facilities and CCRCs and have experience handling general commercial real estate transactions, leasing, general corporate work, HUD lending work for borrowers (including TPAs), SNF licensure changes of ownerships and CMS 855A applications.  We are not title agents, so do not handle residential real estate deals.  Also, we only do what we know, so do not handle litigation.  We can provide references for litigation and residential real estate matters.

Our office has a reputation for responsive, dependable, efficient, high quality work at a fair price. We believe that our size allows us to combine the personal service and practice-area specialization of a small firm with the expertise and resources of a major law firm.
